On December 10th 2010, last day of 16 days of ;Activism, Women'sNet went on the streets of Newtown, Johannesburg to give out pamphlets, T-shirts, stickers portraying messages that urge people to stop Violence against Women. They also set up an internet cafe outside, on the streets, so that everyone passing-by could blog about issues of Gender-based violence

This short story was supported by Oxfam Canada and developed by Gertrude in a workshop conducted in February 2010. The story focuses on the power of information and communication technologies to raise the voices of women who are seldom heard. Gertrude's motivation is the love her mother gave to her, and to others, and she is determined to assist women to take control of the tools they need to make their voices heard.
